A Minimalist Blogger's Best Advice for Dressing From Day to Night
We invited minimalist blogger Candice from www.candicetay.com to visit us in-studio and she gave us her best advice for dressing from Day to Night.
I’ve only been on the sustainable and ethical living journey for a little while and I’m always on the hunt for ethical and sustainable brands. It’s definitely a plus when I discover that the brand is Canadian-made as well! I’m all for shopping local. When Encircled reached out to me and invited me to have an in-person visit at their studio and to style a few looks, I was beyond ecstatic!
Encircled’s pieces are created with intention and with the on-the-go girl in mind. The pieces are also very classic and minimal, making them great wardrobe essentials. Having a minimal capsule wardrobe myself, I’m constantly looking for quality over quantity, and especially versatility in clothing.
Below are the ways I styled the Jetset Jumpsuit and the Dressy Sweatsuit. I thought it’d be best to show you just how versatile these pieces are by bringing them from day to night.
Simple Colour-blocking
If you have been following my instagram or blog, you know that I am a pants girl, and if given the choice, I’d almost always choose pants over dresses. I love jumpsuits so much because they give me the perfect amount of dressy with the ease and comfort of pants. Although wedding season is slowly coming to an end, this jumpsuit is well-suited for semi-formal gatherings or cocktail attire events. I paired the navy jumpsuit with a pair of peach block heels for added interest.
Office-ready
I turned this jumpsuit into a cute pair of culottes/wide leg pants by simply layering a classic silky black tank over it. The look is completely different and you would never know it was originally a jumpsuit! I think it’s a perfect way to wear this jumpsuit at the office on a warmer day. Even if it’s a cool day, I think it would pair nicely with a large, cozy knit cardigan.
Layer Up
As the weather starts to cool down, this jumpsuit is the perfect transitional piece for your fall wardrobe. Fall is all about layering, and I love that by wearing a turtleneck underneath, I am all set for the cold weather. Throw on another layer, like this oversized denim shirt, to transform the look into an even more casual look. Finally, throw on a pair of comfortable sneakers, because nothing goes better with a casual outfit!
Keeping it Casual
Seeing that I had the opportunity to style some amazing pieces, this is where I decided to do something that I don’t normally do, and that is to throw a bold colour in! I styled the Dressy Sweatshirt in the colour vintage rose with a pair of black Dressy Sweatpants. This sweatsuit can really go both ways - casual or dressy. When I first put this set on, I literally felt like I was in my pyjamas. For this casual look, I once again paired an oversized denim shirt with rolled up sleeves over the sweatsuit for a more laid-back vibe. The rosy colour of the shirt really popped against the cool blue tones in the denim.
Corporate-Ready
I believe that styling with staple pieces and accessories is one of the simplest ways to put together an outfit quickly. Honestly, who has time at 6AM in the morning to think of an outfit for work? For this business casual look I threw on a lightly structured longline blazer paired with minimal suede black heels.
Encircled truly blew me away with it’s quality, comfort, and versatility. These are definitely solid pieces to have in a capsule wardrobe and are great foundational pieces to build around.
