5 Photo Tips for your Best Instagram #OOTD
#MoreWithLess
How you can feel better (and more like yourself) in photos
Part of what inspires what we do here at Encircled is the belief that we can travel, live and be more, with less. We also wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you and your support, so as a thank you we’ve launched a new postcard that we’re sending out with all new purchases. All that you have to do is show us how you're wearing your favourite Encircled design, post it on Instagram, and tag @encircled_ with #MoreWithLess. If you’re featured on our feed, you’ll receive a $10 e-gift card.
GRAB A FRIEND
(or your Instagram mom/dad/boyfriend/husband)Find someone who you feel most comfortable with to take your photo. You won’t need a fancy camera because many smartphones such as an iPhone or a digital camera will be all you need to get started!

FIND NATURAL LIGHTING
Lighting will make or break a photo! If you’re inside, stand by a window and make sure the light is in front of you or coming in from the side. In this photo, our model Andrea is standing next to a huge industrial styled window from her right that shows every detail of her outfit. What you don’t want is to stand with your back against a window because it’ll create what we call a “backlit” effect. You might be familiar with photos that turn out super bright in the background while your face and body is hidden in the shadows.
If you’re outside, aim for “golden hour” - around an hour after sunrise or an hour before sunset depending on where you are from. It’ll give a dreamy, soft look to your #OOTD.

USE A MINIMALIST BACKGROUND
Look for a wall or setting that’s clean, simple and light so that your outfit can truly shine. On our photoshoots we take short walks around our neighbourhood to find simple, plain, coloured walls. Here, Kristi is in the alleyway next to our office against a light neutral beige-pink wall.

KEEP IT CASUAL
Be yourself! Smile, laugh, and keep your pose natural. Try standing, sitting, leaning, looking down, hands in pocket or pretending to take a few steps forwards to see what feels right for you.

TRY DIFFERENT ANGLES
Try taking snaps from the front, side, back, top-down, far away, close up, or even a flat lay by arranging items on a plain table or floor.
