Happy Friday everyone!

Hope that you are keeping warm ... the cold snap has returned to where we are, and hiding inside with a cup of Java is definitely on the menu for today.

Something I started thinking about recently was about how as we get older, we tend to close ourselves off.

To new friends, new opportunities, new relationships....new experiences.

Why is this?

When you are younger, as a child, you have less fear, and embrace change more easily.

Unaware of possible negative consequences of say, skiing straight down the hill, or a relationship that doesn't work out -- you take it all in.

As we got older, our experiences (good and bad) imprint on our brains which in turn cultivates an impression of knowing how something will turn out, even though we don't know for certain.

For example, I've noticed through picking up surfing at an older age that I sometimes won't even try a really big wave, because I know how much it hurts when you fall. It's not 100% certain I will fall but that fear definitely gets in the way of even the attempt.

Stay Open

Our #soulnote today is focused on staying open. To anything.

So, maybe it's a new relationship in your life, an experience you've always wanted to have but haven't, or a business initiative that you want to try but are fearful of.

Whatever it is, I encourage you to stop and consciously make note of where in your life you could perhaps be more open

And stay open. Even if it's just for a day. Practice it. Like any skill, you will grow more competent at it over time.

What's one area of your life where you could be more open?

Is it work? relationships? family? Leave a note in the comments!

With gratitude,

Chief Fashionpreneur, encircled
